These were the words texted to Amyee Hargett from husband Jason,
right after he sank a million dollar shot at a charity golf
tournament. The Utah, steak house employee and father
of 4 changed his mind at the last minute and decided to play that
day in a golf tournament. He didn't have his clubs
with him, so he borrowed his brothers and went to
play. One of the holes was a contest hole where the 5
"closest to the pin" would get to shoot on a par 3 to win a million
dollars. Jason qualified and then made the million
dollar shot. He had already alerted his wife earlier
in the day, via text that he would be taking a shot at the million
dollars. After watching his ball go in the hole, and
after picking himself up off the ground he texted his wife with the
great news.
How would you alert your spouse you just won a million
dollars? I posed this question this morning, and had
some great calls.
Calls ranged from: I would go in and swoop my spouse
off their feet like in the movie "Officer and a
Gentleman" (and this was the wife talking!)
The wife of a local chicken farmer said she would slip a note under
one of the chickens for her husband to find......what would the
note say? You've just found a Golden
Egg!
Limos picking up spouses at their places of employment, inviting
spouses to meet them at the airport for exotic trips, and paying
off all of the families bills and debts were the most popular.
Our favorite? The listener
that called in to say the first thing they would do is stop by J103
to eliminate our deficit and rehire all of our laid off
staff. We love you!!!!
If it were me? I would pay off all of our bills, (this
would take about an hour or two-my wife handles our bills), and I
would go purchase a brand new Chevy Camaro in my wife's favorite
color. I would go and pick her up at work, invite her
out into the parking lot, give her the keys to the car and let her
know that we have to get to the airport because I have chartered a
plane to take our family on a
trip. I would also bless all of my favorite ministries
and charities and put money away to secure our future.
It is so cool to dream-but we have to be careful to not take our
eyes off of our Great Provider. God is already
blessing us each and every day with more than we
deserve. Don't forget that! But it's
still cool to dream!
