Growing up in Louisville Kentucky you always looked forward to
the Kentucky Derby Festival. Most people think the KY
Derby is a 3 minute horse race the first Saturday in
May. That is only partially correct. That
is the main event-but it is the 9th race out of 10 that
day. But for most Louisvillians the KY Derby is only
the climax to the busiest week of the year.
Last Saturday was Thunder over Louisville-the Biggest Fireworks
display and air show in the country on the banks of the Ohio
River.
Tomorrow (Saturday) is the Great Balloon Race and the Mini Marathon
(I've run the 13 miles twice). I have two of my three
brothers running tomorrow.
Next week there are daily events including The Run for the Ros'e (a
race for Louisville's waitresses and waiters), the Great Steamboat
Race on the River, the Pegasus Parade and many other events.
I love living in Ringgold and the TN Valley, but this one week out
of the year my heart really goes back to "My Old Kentucky
Home!"
But.....JFest is coming and then Faith and Family Night at
Riverbend-so....I'll get over the homesickness real quick!
