Hey Readers!

New intern here! I am a senior at Lee University and currently interning here at J103! It's pretty crazy how different the classroom is compared to the actual work place. When you read that you think, Duh! Who is this girl? But in my case it has definately been an eye opener. How many classes have I sat through where the professors hammer into your head that if you dont know all the book knowledge you'll never make it in the work place. Maybe J103 is just really special... but I think they may have been exaggerating! As important it is for students to learn the techinicalities, I have learned things here at J103 that I have never heard of in the classroom! Such as, many of the broadcasts are not done live. I apoligize if that is a spoiler for those of you who adore the station.. but it's not! Or how about that songs are mainly selected the week before they are played! Practical lessons I would have never known. Don't get me wrong, I am happy to learn all about every XLR cable in the history of cables but I feel like I have gained a lot more from this great internship! I have now been with J103 twice a week for a month and I feel more prepared for my graduation day with every week. Who knows what next week will hold?!

Your friendly intern,
Hayley
