J103 Mission Trip to Panama 2017 - 'What a Joy to Be Here in Panama'

Today we visited Chepo which took us about an hour and a half from our hostel! Marianella, the local missionary, had a Bible study with some ladies, while the men worked on a construction job painting and cleaning the area! The women’s time together consisted of prayer requests giving brief testimonies and reminders of how good God is! I was able to share part of my testimony also! Lunch was provided by a local lady who prepared chicken, rice and beans! Shortly after lunch the children arrived! They sang songs colored played games and we practiced English with them!!! I believe the games were enjoyed most by them!!! Once they saw they would win a prize they all wanted to join in! One child refused to play when he was told if he won again he had to give his prize to someone else, he sat back down! After we left the village, we headed back into town and stopped at an supermarket. We purchased groceries for bags to distribute to needy families! We will distribute tomorrow and Thursday. After dinner at the Local missionaries home, we packed the grocery bags to distribute. This was a challenge for our team, because when you pack 48 bags with 9 team members something always goes wrong!!! We had lots of laughs because several food items were left out. We had to reopen each bag to figure out where those items were supposed to go. We prayed over the bags and our prayer is that the families who receive them will be nourished not only physically but also spiritually. What a joy to be here in Panama with this team!!!
