Multi-Platinum, GRAMMY winning artist Casting Crowns is once again  tapped as a “Favorite Artist” nominee for the 2010 American Music  Awards® (AMAs) in the Contemporary Inspirational category, as announced  this week during a press conference from the JW Marriott Los Angeles at  L.A. LIVE. Casting Crowns won the AMA Inspirational category in 2007.  This is the band’s fifth career AMA nomination. The 38th Annual American Music Awards will be hosted by N’Sync alum  Lance Bass, and feature a star-studded lineup of music’s top artists and  acts, including performances by Bon Jovi, P!nk and Usher. The live  broadcast of the 38th annual AMAs will take place at the NOKIA Theatre  L.A. LIVE on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 21st (8:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT) on ABC. For  the fourth year in a row, winners will be determined by fan online  voting at amavote.com. Voting is now open and closes on Friday, November  12, 2010.
 
Christian music’s GRAMMY, AMA and  Dove Award-winning Artist of the Year, Casting Crowns is headed by  frontman/principal songwriter Mark Hall. The Platinum-selling band’s  fourth album, Until the Whole World Hears, sold 167,000 copies  first-week, setting a sales record as the highest debuting Christian  music artist in SoundScan history (week ending 11/22/09). The album  certified RIAA Gold in four weeks, with more than 600,000 sold to date.  The band’s career sales exceed 5.2 million.
 
Casting Crowns  recently released its newest project, Until the Whole World Hears LIVE, a  DVD/CD combo package featuring live concert video, 80 minutes of  behind-the-scenes footage, a Mark Hall-led teaching video series and  more. The band continues to tour in support of Until the Whole World  Hears, with dates in the US through fall 2010, and appearances “across  the pond” in Northern Ireland, Great Britain, Norway and Germany  scheduled for November.
