Owl City is set to release the Shooting Star EP on Tuesday, May 15th featuring his new single “Shooting Star” along with “Gold,” “Take It All Away,” and “Dementia” which features blink-182’s Mark Hoppus on guest vocals.  All four tracks are from Owl City’s upcoming full-length studio album due out Summer 2012 on Universal Republic and fans can get an early listen courtesy of exclusive premieres via several media partners.  Follow links below to hear each track (available until Monday 10AM EST):

When it came to writing the first single “Shooting Star,” Owl City enlisted his friend Matt Thiessen (Relient K), Stargate (Rihanna, Wiz Khalifa), and the team of Josh Crosby, Nate Campany, and Emily Wright (the latter known for her work with Dr. Luke).  Seeking out co-writers and outside producers for the first time is something new for Owl City and he embraced the opportunity for the new album.  This openness to working with others came after several very positive collaborating experiences including songs with Paul Van Dyke (“Eternity”), Armin van Buuren (“Youtopia”), and He Is We (“All About Us”) as well as a desire to grow as an artist.

“After four years of writing music, making records, meeting new people and performing live around the world, my relationship with God is still what gets me out of bed in the morning,” he says. “God has called me to do what I do and create the music I create so that I may shed a bit of light into the world and perhaps paint a picture of His unfailing love. It's been a roller coaster of a ride, but after every unexpected twist or turn, I am only made stronger because of the grip I have on the hand of my Creator.”
