What would normally be a 10 minute commute to Walmart took over
an hour yesterday.
Chipper was out of school again yesterday, and had pre-ordered a
new video game for his XBox 360. It was available at
midnight the night before, but due to the time I have to get up and
get to work, I told him he would have to wait until the next day to
get it.
Well.......the flooding caused a small problem. When
his nana and papa came to take him to the video store they got
within site of the Walmart shopping center on Hwy 2A but were
forced to turn back due to the police blocking the flooded
road. He was so close.
Becuase I felt bad for him having to stay at home all day and (I
know this is bad) read a book or watch TV and play his other
(10,000) games, I told him I would get him to that video store
somehow after I got off of work.
I went home and picked him up. We had to go to the end
of Three Notch Road to Red Belt Road to the flooded out mill near
Chickamauga, to Hwy 27 to the Chickamauga Battlefield,
to the other end of Battlefield Pkwy to get his........video
game! He was really grateful that I made the trip, and
got him his newest addiction.
As I pulled out of the Walmart parking lot to make the (much
longer) trek back home again, I saw the section of road that was
shut down. It was only about 50 feet. I
can see how people are tempted to drive around those "Road Closed"
baricades and try to manuever the high waters. Now
listen......I don't condone it!!! Follow the
signs!!!! But with a boy desperate for a video game, I
can see how parents might entertain that thought.
Because of just a "little amount" of shut down road, we were forced
to take an hour round trip. It reminds me of the way
J103 has been kept on the air all these
years. Just a "Little amount" from many people has
kept this ministry reaching people for Christ. Don't
ever forget The Power of One! Your gift, given
cheerfully is making a huge difference!
Thank you for reaching people for Christ!
