The Root Not The Fruit

I'm reading an interesting book about developing great habits that lead to success in life. The author makes a great point. Concentrate on the ROOT not the FRUIT. He says, if we make sure the fundamentals are sound...the fruit will come. It made me think. The Bible says we will know them by their fruit and that verse is often quoted, but check this out....a tree with a lousy root system doesn't bear fruit. So....how's your root system? Think about it!
