Brothers, Birthdays and Eternity

I am the oldest of 4 boys (yes, God bless my mama).

My brother nearest to me in age, Shawn, celebrated his birthday yesterday. He is 40, (five years younger than me).

I sent him a text early yesterday morning, posted a Happy Birthday greeting on his Facebook page and then called him yesterday afternoon when I got home.

While I was sitting on my front porch swing and he was driving back to his home in Louisville from somewhere in Indiana, (he drives a flatbed delivery truck for UPS), we had a good 30 minute conversation. A really good one. It was two brothers who haven't seen each other in over a year but take every advantage to chat whenever possible. We caught up, and it was cool.

After I told him I loved him and "Happy Birthday" one last time, I went inside and Amy said she figured I was talking to Shawn. She and Chipper had already eaten dinner and she had saved me a plate. She said I looked like I was having a really good time talking to my little brother, and she didn't want to disturb me. (I have an incredible wife!)

One day when we get to Heaven-we are going to be able to have talks like that and then some with all of our family that knows the Lord! It is going to be sweet!

I Hope you have the assurance that you are going to spend eternity in Heaven and that your family does too!

Ted
